A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE FIRM

David Pattinson established his accountancy practice in 1982, operating from his spare bedroom with little more than a desk, a telephone and a typewriter. A loyal band of clients was gradually built up and in 1986, when the workload became too much for one person, it was time to move on.

A house was purchased with a large garage, which was converted to a more business-like office, so that clients no longer had to wait in the living room. As well as a secretary, the firm also employed school leavers to train as accounting technicians, allowing further expansion in the client base as more services could be offered.

In 1997, the firm outgrew those premises and moved to its present site conveniently situated in the centre of Balderton. Many local people will remember this building at the traffic lights as a former sub-branch of Lloyds Bank. The firm currently consists of the principal, David Pattinson, and four full-time employees, serving a broad range of mainly small business clients in the Newark area and beyond.

The premises are easily accessible and provide parking facilities for clients. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

MEET THE OWNER

After completing my A levels at the then Magnus Grammar School, I trained with a Newark firm serving mainly small clients and qualified as a Charted Accountant in 1979. During three years working abroad with one of the largest firms of accountants in the world, I gained experience of dealing with public companies. I then returned to Newark to establish my own practice. In 1990 I became a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Developing long-standing contacts within the Newark area, I have been able to build a truly local practice to serve the needs of small businesses and individuals alike.

I am a former Chairman of Newark and District Round Table and I am an active member of the Rotary Club of Newark
